Volunteer plus Trekking The Himalayas with Take on Nepal

I’m not quite sure where to start my time in Nepal, as every time I find myself trying to explain it I am at a constant loss for words as I think about the overwhelming warmth and hospitality, incredible expertise, and unparalleled selflessness and support of the Take On Nepal Team.

From the moment I signed up for my Take On Nepal trip- which was comprised of 2 weeks in the unbelievably beautiful Batase village and 2 weeks tackling the Everest Base Camp Trek- I was welcomed into the Take On Nepal family with open arms and truly feel like I have a second home in Nepal. In Batase I was absolutely blown away by the family Take on Nepal has created. Their passion and devotion to ensuring the FHC children and the wider community are given the best opportunities in life is overwhelming humbling, and their generosity and inclusivity knows no bounds, constantly putting everyone else’s needs before their own,.

Every single member of the team is dedicated to making sure you have the experience of a lifetime. They are incredibly knowledgeable about every aspect of Nepal’s rich cultural heritage and history, never failing to answer any question you have –whether it be about the country or themselves- with passion and enthusiasm. From the organisation of airport pick-ups and drop-offs to city tours, to dietary requirements, to finding the best bargains in Thamel- the team strives to make every individuals experience a unique and unforgettable one. Special thanks to Dinesh, Bijay, Anil, Bimmaya, Phulmaya, Kamala, Cook, Suman, Sanu, and Prem for making us feel like part of the Tamang family!

On the Everest base camp trek, our guides Dinesh and Jevi showed attentiveness that was second to none. Their kind-hearted nature and genuine approachability made it easy for us to be transparent with any difficulties we encountered during the trek, which strengthened us as a team and allowed us to overcome hardships together. Their infectious laughter would warm up the coldest of days, and their radiating smiles became a light at the end of every trail, lifting our spirits and constantly spurring us on. Their zest for life made it impossible to feel anything but alive around them, and I cannot thank them enough for starting the fire in all of our hearts for the mountains and Mother Nature! Thank you for everything!

Another incredible thing about the team is that they are bespoke advocates for the empowerment of women. Samjhana, the only female member of the team, led our base camp trek for its entirety. Her strength, independence, and determination taught us that we can truly do anything we set our minds to!

Take On Nepal has truly changed my life; I feel completely reborn. Having been surrounded by nothing but positivity and purity for the past month, I would like to thank every member of the team from the bottom of my heart for reminding me of the true meaning and beauty of life when I almost forgot. I feel so blessed and so beyond grateful to have experienced Nepal with the special Take on Nepal team. I can’t recommend your company enough, and I am literally counting down the days until I get to come back again!
