This trek is special to us and one that we hope you will consider. The Langtang region is home to our company’s founder and owner, Som Tamang, it’s also home to most of our guides and porters. This is the region where we undertake our humanitarian projects. It’s a beautiful, much less explored part of Nepal. It’s a region that borders Tibet and is very rich in Tibetan culture and spirituality. On this trek you will visit a monastery at the foothills of the Langtang Himalayan Mountains and see Yaks at work with the Yolmo people of the region. The places, people and views are amazing.
This 65km trek reaches an altitude of 3,870 metres at Kyanjin Gompa. You will have the opportunity to summit the peak Kyanjin Ri which at 4,773 metres will be sure to provide you with breathtaking views of the Langtang Valley and Himalayan Ranges. The highest peak in the Langtang region is Shishapangma which at an impressive 8,027 metres is the 14th highest peak in the world.
This trek is perfect for everyone! It’s ideal if you have time restrictions, it’s perfect for beginner hikers, it’s ideal for those wanting an authentic cultural experience, it’s an amazing trek for families. It’s also great for experienced hikers hoping to get off the busy tourist trails.

Today’s trek also has an element of sadness as this region was completely devastated by the 2015 Earthquake. It was the worst hit area and most residents did not survive the Earthquake, all of the homes and trekking lodges were destroyed. You will see many memorial stones along the way, a powerful and sad reminder of all the lives lost on the 25th of April, 2015
The people of this region are strong and resilient, the homes and trekking lodges have been rebuilt. You will have a lovely stay in this beautiful village.

Today you enter a different terrain. A landscape dotted with large trees and topped with snow-capped peaks. The Langtang Valley Trek is different from most other treks in Nepal as you will come across wide open spaces. If it is winter, you may be trekking through snow, and the Yaks will be plentiful. It is a drier, flatter terrain. You will notice the smells of the plants such as Juniper.
The scenery on today’s trek is truly breathtaking, but again tinged with reminders of the lives lost in the 2015 Earthquake.
Arriving in Kyanjin Gompa is an experience you won’t forget, a beautiful village surrounded by soaring peaks. After you settle into your accommodation you will have time to explore the village. We recommend a visit to the Dorje Bakery, their chocolate cake is the best! As you wander around Kyanjin Gompa you will be reminded of the deep Buddhist spirituality in the region, you will hears bells ring and smell incense burning.
