How much does the Annapurna Base Camp Trek cost ?
The cost of trekking to Annapurna Base Camp with all your meals included is AUD$1,750. If you choose to fly to Pokhara instead of taking the 9-hour bus, the all-inclusive cost will be AUD$2,190.
We know when you go online to research the cost of trekking to Ananpurna Base Camp you will be met with a slew of different companies offering the trek and hugely varied prices. Here’s a guideline of what to look for, what to be mindful of and why our all-inclusive cost of AUD$1,750 without the flight and AUD$2,190 with the flight included is a fair price point.
Inclusions and exclusions:
Before booking your trek to Annapurna Base Camp you need to carefully read what is included and not included in the cost of your trek. If you find a company offering this trek at a cost that is much cheaper than others, it is more likely than not that the cost of your meals are not included. The cost of meals is the most expensive component of the trek, meals on the Annapurna Base Camp Trek are not cheap. If meals are not included in the cost of the trek, we recommend you budget approximately AUD$500 on top of the cost of the trek. At Take on Nepal meals are included in the cost, we find this is a better option as it avoids our trekkers having to deal with ordering and paying for meals on the trek. It’s a lovely feeling to arrive at your lunch and dinner destination, be handed a menu, choose your meal and that’s it! No comparing prices or fumbling around trying to find the correct money for your meal as lodge owners often don’t have the correct change available.
Flights: Our trek comes with 2 different prices, the cost of AUD$1,750 does not include your flight in and out of Pokhara airport. Instead of a 30-minute flight each way you will take a 9-hour bus journey each way to Pokhara. Many people enjoy the bus journey as it gives you a different perspective on life in Nepal. The bus stops a couple of times, and there’s a nice lunch break. We always book comfortable tourist buses. Please be aware that the bus journey can sometimes take longer than 9 hours as sometimes there are delays on the road.
The cost of AUD$2,190 includes the flight in and out of Pokhara. It is a 30-minute flight each way. This means more time for you to explore the beautiful lakeside town of Pokhara. Pokhara has just opened a beautiful new International Airport which is the cause of much excitement in Nepal. On a clear day the flight allows for stunning views of the Annapurna Himalayan Range as you fly into Pokhara Airport.
Porters: When you trek to Annapurna Base Camp with our team a porter will be carrying your bag, even if you think you would prefer to carry your own bag, we always discourage this, having a porter provides much needed employment for the people of Nepal and having a porter will also drastically increase your chance of successfully reaching Annapurna Base Camp. Make sure the cost of your porter is included in the cost of your trek.
Pre departure and on arrival support: We always provide pre departure support and on arrival support. What is their success rate in getting trekkers safely to Annapurna Base Camp? Some companies rely on the commission from helicopter rescues to cover their costs. They charge you very little but may have the intention of getting you on a helicopter to make extra money.
How are they looking after their staff? We know the real cost of trekking to Annapurna Base Camp and it’s not cheap.
