Annapurna Base Camp Trek Cost

How much does the Annapurna Base Camp Trek cost ?

The cost of trekking to Annapurna Base Camp with all your meals included is AUD$1,750. If you choose to fly to Pokhara instead of taking the 9-hour bus, the all-inclusive cost will be AUD$2,190.

We know when you go online to research the cost of trekking to Ananpurna Base Camp you will be met with a slew of different companies offering the trek and hugely varied prices. Here’s a guideline of what to look for, what to be mindful of and why our all-inclusive cost of AUD$1,750 without the flight and AUD$2,190 with the flight included is a fair price point.

Inclusions and exclusions:

Before booking your trek to Annapurna Base Camp you need to carefully read what is included and not included in the cost of your trek. If you find a company offering this trek at a cost that is much cheaper than others, it is more likely than not that the cost of your meals are not included. The cost of meals is the most expensive component of the trek, meals on the Annapurna Base Camp Trek are not cheap. If meals are not included in the cost of the trek, we recommend you budget approximately AUD$500 on top of the cost of the trek. At Take on Nepal meals are included in the cost, we find this is a better option as it avoids our trekkers having to deal with ordering and paying for meals on the trek. It’s a lovely feeling to arrive at your lunch and dinner destination, be handed a menu, choose your meal and that’s it! No comparing prices or fumbling around trying to find the correct money for your meal as lodge owners often don’t have the correct change available.

Flights: Our trek comes with 2 different prices, the cost of AUD$1,750 does not include your flight in and out of Pokhara airport. Instead of a 30-minute flight each way you will take a 9-hour bus journey each way to Pokhara. Many people enjoy the bus journey as it gives you a different perspective on life in Nepal. The bus stops a couple of times, and there’s a nice lunch break. We always book comfortable tourist buses. Please be aware that the bus journey can sometimes take longer than 9 hours as sometimes there are delays on the road.

The cost of AUD$2,190 includes the flight in and out of Pokhara. It is a 30-minute flight each way. This means more time for you to explore the beautiful lakeside town of Pokhara. Pokhara has just opened a beautiful new International Airport which is the cause of much excitement in Nepal. On a clear day the flight allows for stunning views of the Annapurna Himalayan Range as you fly into Pokhara Airport.

Porters: When you trek to Annapurna Base Camp with our team a porter will be carrying your bag, even if you think you would prefer to carry your own bag, we always discourage this, having a porter provides much needed employment for the people of Nepal and having a porter will also drastically increase your chance of successfully reaching Annapurna Base Camp. Make sure the cost of your porter is included in the cost of your trek.

Pre departure and on arrival support: We always provide pre departure support and on arrival support. You can be assured that when you book with our team, we will be with you every step of the way, from the moment you first make contact to helping you prepare for the trek, to meeting you at the airport in Nepal, to ensuring your trek is the best experience of your life, to then making sure you make it back to the airport in Kathmandu for your return flight. This level of service is worth paying for!

Research: When doing your research, you will find some trekking companies offering incredibly low prices, we urge you to ask the questions below before booking a budget trek:

What is their success rate in getting trekkers safely to Annapurna Base Camp? Some companies rely on the commission from helicopter rescues to cover their costs. They charge you very little but may have the intention of getting you on a helicopter to make extra money.

How are they looking after their staff? We know the real cost of trekking to Annapurna Base Camp and it’s not cheap. When companies undercharge, we worry they are underpaying staff or not providing training opportunities. At Take on Nepal we take a strong ethical approach to all that we do, we value the principal of people of profit, and we invest so much into our team as they are our greatest asset, and we care very much about their futures.

Check the reviews. Do your research, if a company offering budget treks have awesome online reviews, then they may be the real deal. At Take on Nepal we only use Google reviews as we feel this is the most unbiased form of reviewing a company. Check out our Google Reviews.

There are trekking companies charging double the amount we do, are trekkers who pay this much getting more for their money? The simple answer to this is no! The companies charging a high cost use the same lodges we do, the very same bus and airline companies, their clients eat the same meals as ours do, there is absolutely no difference, paying more does not equal a better service. In fact, we know you will get the best service with our incredible team, you can’t go wrong!

In answer to the question, the cost of AUD$1,750 or AUD$2,190 with meals, accommodation, porter service, pre departure support and highly trained English-speaking guides is a very reasonable amount to pay for this once in a lifetime incredible experience. Book now!
