The trails in this region are absolutely spectacular! You will run through forests, visit a monas-tery at the foothills of the Langtang Himalayan Mountains and see Yaks at work with the Buddhist Yolmo people of the Langtang region.

Seeing the marvelous and holy Gosaikunda lakes will be a highlight of this running trip. The lakes are of great significance to the Hindu and Buddhist people of Nepal who believe that it is the abode of the Hindu Gods Shiva and Gauri. Thousands of Nepalese and Indian pilgrims visit the ar-ea once a year for a full moon festival.

Local Trail Runners

Day 1: Kathmandu Arrival Day (1400m)

You will be met in Kathmandu by our happy and professional team members who will transfer you to your hotel. Be warned, our guides ask lots of questions! In the evening, our lovely guides will brief you on the magnificent trail running experience that you are about to undertake. You will be excited about the adventure ahead!

Day 2: Drive to Dunche and run to Sing Gompa (3330m, 6km)

You will drive alongside the famous Trisuli river, this is the only road that takes people into the Langtang region. You will pass through many villages and see different ethnic groups living their lives. After arriving in Dunche, we will begin trail running! It is a short 6km run that will take you up-hill into forests which are home of the red panda. In the evening you will arrive in Sing Gompa, home of the ethnic Buddhist Yolmo people.

Day 3: Sing Gompa to Gosaikunda (4470m, 7km up hill only)

An incredible day ahead filled with amazing views of the high peaks. Your first view of the Go-saikunda lakes will happen once you cross the Lauribina Pass, there are approximately 12 lakes in the area. The lakes are a holy site for the Hindu people of Nepal. Although the distance today is rel-atively short, you are at altitude and it is all uphill.

Day 4: Gosaikunda to Tade Pati (3690m, 13km)

Your day will start with an uphill run, passing the beautiful holy lakes, you will feel like you’re on top of the world! Once you reach the Gosaikunda Pass, you will begin a downfall run to Gosaikun-da Base Camp (Phedi). You will then be running through the forest until you reach Tade Pati. After what will have been a lovely day of running, you will be taken outside where you will spend some time with cup of tea or hot water to experience the night sky. With its dark skies and lack of light pollution, you are in the perfect location to view constellations and even the Milky Way. Your guide will be excited to share the stunning night sky with you.

Day 5: Tade Pati to Sermathang (2600m, 15km)

We recommend that you rise early today to experience what will be a spectacular sunrise. After breakfast, you will begin a nice day of running, it will be a day of up and downhill running today. You will run amongst Rhododendron flowers and Juniper Berries. This run takes you along a ridge be-tween two valleys with amazing views surrounding you.

Day 6: Sermathang to Batase (1800m, 18km)

You will start the day with approx 5km of downhill running, you will then run along a road to Tal-amarang before running uphill to Batase. Today, you will be entering into different surroundings and passing through many small Tamang villages. The Buddhist Tamang people are one of the largest ethnic groups in Nepal. Batase village is a beautiful small village with spectacular views of the Lang-tang Himalayan Ranges. From Batase, you will be able to look back at all of the hills that you have run through over the previous days.

Day 7: Batase Village Exploration and Resting Day (1800m)

You will wake up to the sounds of the village: children chattering and cocks crowing. Your first morning will start with a hot cup of tea in the shadow of snow topped mountains. After breakfast, you will be guided to the village school where you will be introduced to the principal, teachers and students.

Your guide will then take you on a tour of the village where you will see villagers farming, you may see the blacksmith at work, and you will visit to the corn mill where the stone is turned by the force of the river.

Dinner will be provided at approximately 6:30 pm. The evening is your free time to do with as you choose. Many visitors have loved spending time with the villagers, teaching and learning through stories, dance and song around the fire.

Day 8: Final Day – Batase village to Kathmandu via Naranthan, (1300m, 25km)

You final day of running will end with you arriving back in Kathmandu. After an early start you will enjoy up and downhill running until you arrive at Chisopani for snacks. After snacks, your run is mostly downhill and through small villages until you arrive at Sundarijal where there will be a mini bus will be waiting to take you to your hotel in Kathmandu.
